On November 22, 2015 the students of St.Nerses Shnorhali Sunday School prepared their famous “Button Soup”
and raised funds to sponsor one CFFA family. Our principal Hasmik Hovhannisyan handmade cards with our students and they wrote their wishes and greeting to CFFA children in Vayodz Dzor’s Sers and Bardzruni villages. The cards were mailed to Armenian Diocese of Canada for our Dear Primate Bishop Abgar Hovakimayan, who forwarded the cards to the children in Armenia.
The children in Vayots Dzor were very touched and appreciated that our students thought of them. They sent to our students their own hand made cards and thanked them for their gifts and beautiful cards. The cards were delivered to our students by our Primate when he visited our St. Vartan Armenian Apostolic Church of BC on February 07 2016.
On March 13, 2016 our Sunday School Administrator and treasurer Diana Kalpakian prepared a very special informative presentation, and showed the pictures of both our students preparing cards for the children in Armenia and also the picture of the Armenian CFFA children preparing and writing in the cards.
Also the mini reportage that was broadcasted in Armenia was presented to our community. It was such a touching afternoon full of excitement for both our student and community. Our students felt so proud that their efforts were appreciated and most importantly they started a new friendship with their pen pals in Armenia.
Our students alongside with their parents prepared the “Button Soup” once again and raised enough funds to sponsor two families this year. We are hoping that this tradition will continue and our students will never forget that our roots are in Armenia and we should always support and help the CFFA children in Armenia as long as we live.
We wanted to thank our Dear Der Hayr, for always supporting all our events, our Parish Council, Ladies Guild, Sunday school teachers, students, their parents, the principal and our whole community for their ongoing support as without team work and unity this events wouldn’t have been possible.
Thanking you kindly
